He’s gone on high to prepare a place / Trouble done bore me down / For to prepare a place for
me and you / Trouble done bore me down
O Lord, O Lord / Have mercy on me / Trouble done bore me down / O Lord, O Lord / Have
mercy on me / Trouble done bore me down
I’ve seen some strangers quite unknown / I’m a child of misery / I’m sometimes up and
sometimes down / I’m sometimes level with the ground
O Lord, O Lord / What shall I do, / I asked God Almighty for to run me ’round / O Lord, O
Lord / What shall I do?
